Dental Care in Pregnancy
Physiological changes during pregnancy may result in noticeable changes in the oral cavity. Gingivitis, benign oral gingival lesions, tooth mobility, tooth erosion, dental caries, and periodontitis are frequent in pregnancy. Failure to treat these conditions can increase inflammatory modulators that may precipitate preterm labor. We recommend:
  • Healthy food and habits
  • Limiting sugary foods and drinks
  • Brushing twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste
  • Flossing at least once a day
  • Dental visits every 6 months
